A person who contaminated treats with sedative and gave them to children at a summer camp in the region has admitted sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and 10.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the man had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the defendant went on to play the "sweet game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson called the police again.
She said the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
